Rare Wednesday

October 29th, 2008 . by cary

It’s not too often that I get to write a post on Wednesday.

When I do, it’s going to be a good one, because I don’t want to fritter away the opportunity to share with ya’ll on a day that TMBWitW is normally working from home. However, this is close week and she (being an accounting type) needs to be at the office all week.

When I do post on a Wednesday, I look for something that I can really sink my teeth into. “machosauceproduction” is someone you should probably get to know. He comes from a large family of democrats and has somehow managed to [gasp!] think for himself.

While surfing this morning, I ran across this video that Cyber Pastor posted; I remember thinking to myself when I first saw this guy that I should dig into him a bit more, find out where he’s at. Well, I did that. The man is funny, and truthful. It pains liberals when people like him point out their own foibles, and that is reflected in some of the comments from the left.

Go on, check him out. You won’t regret it. Unless, of course, you happen to be a left-leaning weenie that can’t handle the truth…

Marriage

October 28th, 2008 . by cary

On November 4th, 2008, three states (Arizona, California, and Florida) have propositions or amendments on the ballot defining marriage. These will be set in stone - no judge will be able to rule otherwise.

I am biased on this subject, as I believe that marriage should be defined (as it is in the Bible) as a union of one man and one woman.

Arizona’s Proposition 102 reads as follows: “Only a union of one man and one woman will be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.” This would amend the state constitution. Currently, it is against the law in Arizona for same-sex couples to marry; this amendment would not allow reinterpretation of state law.

California’s Proposition 8 reads as follows: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” This would be in a new section (7.5) of Article 1, and would also not allow reinterpretation by judges in the future.

Florida’s Amendment 2 reads, in part, as follows: “In as much as a marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.” This amendment will also prohibit judges from overturning this amendment as unconstitutional.

Skyline Church in San Diego, California, presented a series recently outlining the background of California’s Prop 8. Although it was taped and presented in California, the information is applicable to all three states. You can watch the series here.

I’m not going to quote chapter and verse of the Bible to sway your opinion on this matter. If you have read the Bible, and understand what God is saying through His Word, then I would be preaching to the choir; if you have already decided before you get to this sentence that I am a homophobe there is no changing your mind.

Let me get this straight: I am not scared of homosexuality. I am in fear for the souls of those who practice homosexuality unrepentantly after they have been shown the truth. Once you know the truth, and you continue to break God’s laws, then you have condemned yourself. I am not condemning you. God is. I am only letting you know what you have to look forward to. (your future, as an unrepentant sinner, involves eternal pain and a lake of fire)

Those of you in Arizona, California, and Florida: vote yes for marriage. Those of you outside these states: pray for us.

Fast Weekend

October 27th, 2008 . by cary

So - Friday, after the show, I’m ambushed by a whole line of things that need to be accomplished. In the process, I forget to make my customary Red Friday post, and for that I apologize to those who look forward to it.

Friday evening, I spend three hours on the waiting list for a cab. Never did get one. So, I went to the meeting at the Black Canyon Railroad instead, and had a good operating session.

Saturday was a yard sale at a friends house, and we put several items in the sale. Sold a few, but not all, and got some walking-around money.

Saturday evening I did get a cab, and had a good night overall. Found a nifty little back way into Wrigley Mansion, and the guards were good enough to let me up to the main entrance, even though no traffic was allowed since the shuttle was running for the charity event.

Sunday, after a short nap (about an hour and a half, on top of the hour nap I took Saturday afternoon) we went to church and, after church, met some friends at the Arizona Science Center to take in the Narnia exhibit (it was the last day). All in all, a very enjoyable exhibit. Being in the camp of people who would rather NOT do things in a crowd, I was feeling rather crowded. I did manage to ignore my gut reaction to RUN and stuck it out to see the costumes from the movie, as well as the props and some miniatures from the movie. Overall, a must-see when it is in your town. I particularly enjoyed the “ice throne” and remarked that I wouldn’t mind having one in my living room.

After the Science Center, we all went to Applebee’s for dinner. By that time, I was operating on 3 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours, and I was quickly running out of gas. I am told by a reliable source that I managed to fall asleep during lulls in the after-dinner conversation. The same reliable source decided (all by herself) that it would be better if she drove us home. I would have agreed, but had fallen asleep in the back seat after buckling MEG into her carseat.

How was your weekend?

Thursday Round Up

October 23rd, 2008 . by cary

MEG update: Her temperature has been under 101.5 since Tuesday afternoon. She is on a new (meaning different), stronger antibiotic that is knocking down her double ear infection. She needs lots of hugs and love, so we’re kinda busy in that department.

Blogrolling appears to still be on the fritz, so it may be slow going for the round up.

Gawfer is helping to spread the word about the extreme left’s attack on Congresswoman Michele Bachmann after her visit to MSNBC’s Hardball on Friday night produced some of the most twisted and out-of-context sound bites ever.

ACORN has issues - and they are showing up in Clark County, Nevada, according to an article on cookiecrumbexpress.

Cube has found what could possibly be the last honest Democrat. (link in article is slow - be patient - keep trying)

Cyber Pastor has a fine table posted, comparing the two main-party candidates for POTUS on his blog, Do The Right Thing.

The historic French footage of John McCain as POW in an interview is posted on Blackfive. If you have translation abilities, could you please help me work through the overdub? My hearing is weird, and while I can pick out occasional words from McCain and the interviewer, the louder overdub overwhelms my auditory input.

Gateway Pundit makes note of how quickly Palin rallies fill up in comparison with (and direct contrast to) the weeks of work required to get people to attend an Obama gathering. Plus, no opening act for Sarah…

Old Soldier has the Wednesday Hero posted. Look further down for another hero - one with more than one hundred medals.

Ol’ Broad is having computer issues. Many are helpful, some are entertained.

GuyK is having a slow start this morning. I love the older folk on computers. They are so darned entertaining.

Brother Johnny introduces the “Wizard of OZ” defense for the Obamanation on Amazed In His Presence.

Shhh - there’s a Goldfinch at the feeder… on Richard’s At The Water.

RattlerGator whets our appetite for upcoming specials and points out some nice tidbits.

Bushwack reminds us of what a REAL leader looks like and talks like on American and Proud.

The Chief has a picture of Obamarx. Also a reminder: 25 years ago today, the Marine Barracks at Beirut was attacked. 241 Americans were killed that day. (side note - part two of “Lessons From Beirut” tomorrow morning, 0700 MST, at The O Word)

Alaska Steve passes on word about the Katmai, and shares his hike to Ugadaga Bay on A Sense of Place.

Talk about something that should be shared with the whole country - The Bull has that in spades.

Some humor from the Grumpy Old Attitudinal Texan, Fred. (heh heh!)

There is talk of a “righteous wind” over in the Jungle.

Bloviating Zeppelin points out that even if Obama would meet with certain countries without preconditions, those countries have preconditions for US.

Mary’s World recently cleared the 8700 mark with readers. For a small blogger, that a lot. Congratulations, Mary. Keep up the good work!

There’s talk of a party over at Andrew’s Place.

A funny thing happened to some global warming activists on their bike ride… see the details on Pitchpull.

Nice video on Autorotate’s Flying Circus with John Mutha - I mean, Murtha - dodging questions about Haditha accusations.

Visit Amboy Times and get a taste of the Enigma Called Barack.

Samantha has a series about Beirut. Thank you, Samantha - I knew I could count on you to remember.

And you, too, Loon.

And mdconservative on the Conservative Intelligence Report. Ooh rah, Semper Fi.

Kathi has Wednesday’s Hero, also, on Mail Call! Supporting The Troops.

That’s it for now - MEG’s waking up, and she needs her Daddy.

Monday Blues

October 20th, 2008 . by cary

Last night was hard - MEG had a high fever and we spent a few hours in the ER getting it under control. we are working with the ER’s temperature management prescription, and she is doing better. This, after being told she has an ear infection on Thursday, and the antibiotics kicking in on top of a flu shot…

Anyway - saw this in several places, and stole it from Ol’ Broad:

Thursday Round Up

October 16th, 2008 . by cary

Sorry for the late start - MEG had a doctor’s appointment.

Let’s get right to it, shall we? And, since blogrolling.com seems to be having trouble (again!) I’m really glad I have my sidebar list - although it doesn’t tell me who’s got new entries, so we’ll just go right on through it! In all fairness, if the blog entry is more than three days old, I won’t mention it…

First stop is A Sense of Place. Always nice to see Steve’s pictures - whether from the back of a bike or out the front of his house. I am still jealous of his view.

A couple of good articles to read prior to the casting of your ballot on Amazed In His Presence.

Amboy Times has a nice piece (part of a blogburst) regarding the Obamanation’s so-called “economic” plan.

Go on over to American And Proud and ask Bush where he stands on the issue of Murtha. I dare you. I double dare you.

Ol’ Broad has a nice collection of Obama pictures for your edification…

Richard has a word about the current Wall Street feelings, and just to ease your fears, a few pictures of early-feeding ducks on his lake, over on At The Water.

Blackfive is - well, Blackfive. Go. Now.

Bloviating Zeppelin has a nice little article (it ties in with Texas Fred’s. below…) about protection and safety.

You can find a review of last night’s debate on Bottom Line Up Front.

GuyK has a word of sit and wisdom over at Charming, Just Charming.

mdconservative has a nice looking piece of legal paper that should be resolved before the election is allowed to continue…

cookiecrumbexpress has a reminder for those who would push “tommy” to the back under the Obamanation.

More required reading about the Obamanation can be found on Do The Right Thing.

Still think that all the hulabaloo about ACORN and voter fraud is overblown, and not to be worried about? Then you haven’t been over to Dumb Looks Still Free with his expansion on the theme…

Gateway Pundit is chuckling a bit about the Dems’ view of a flyer calling for foreign policy accountability.

Gawfe has a nice, concise, two-point recap of the debate on his site at Gawfer.

Now, I’m not nearly finished here, but life keeps getting in the way of my commentary. I will be back later with the rest of my round-up.

2241 hours: that’s quite an interruption. It is also, apparently, enough time for blogrolling to come up for a bit.

Check out both sides of the story (Moose Mints, anyone?) at the BLOG.

What could the FBI want with Mahoney? Gateway Pundit knows…

Old Soldier shows his admiration for Sarah Palin with news of a siting at Wal-Mart.

RattlerGator has a new favorite country song.

The Chief has a nice photo on The Roland Blog.

Best wishes to Nancy Reagan from The Bull.

Another one bites the dust - Texas Fred fills us in on another loser in the Castle Doctrine war.

Jenn has a little bit on the fake “kill him” remark reported by the Scranton Times and not yet retracted by anyone who has credited the Times with the first report…like ABC… or Olbermann…

Political Pistachio wants to know why Obama will give an employer a $3000 tax credit for hiring a new employee…

Another quick review by Mary, this one from the wife of Lakewood’s Joel Osteen.

Andrew Tallman has a “happy” thought!

Quick hita all around from LimaLimaMikeFoxtrot. (Good to see you active again, Mac and wife!)

The audio clip on Pitchpull should be enough to make you go out and shake your head in sadness at all the Democrats out there who don’t pay attention to what is being said…

The American Apologist (welcome to the round-up!) is admittedly behind the curve, but would like to know why the Obamanation doesn’t just pony up the documents. Personally, I think it’s because the ink ain’t dry yet…

Oliver Stone has not learned Rule Number One yet - do not piss off the Redhead.

ablur wants to know if the Omabanation is eligible, too.

Help Kathi spread the word about writing to our soldiers. Details are on her site (new location!), Mail Call!.

I’m going to finish off this round up with the positive news from my favorite Canadian - The Loon shares news from Iraq.

Thank you for stopping by, In GOD We Trust, God bless you all, listen to The O Word on BlogTalkRadio, Wear Red on Fridays, and support Warriors for Innocence!

MEG Woke Up

October 15th, 2008 . by cary

MEG woke up about 0200 this morning and won’t go back to sleep - yet. I’m hoping to bore her to tears with internet surking so she will go back to sleep, so I can go back to sleep.

While looking around this morning, my friend prying1 (alternate site: prying1books.com) forwarded this to me:

From the MANITOBA HERALD, Canada

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration.

The possibility of a McCain/Palin election is prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O’Reilly.

Canadian border farmers say it’s not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night. ‘I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn,’ said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. ‘The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry. He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken.’

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. ‘Not real effective,’ he said. ‘The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn’t give milk.’

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves. ‘A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions,’ an Ontario border patrolman said. ‘I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley Cabernet, though.’

When liberals are caught, they’re sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have been circulating about the McCain administration establishing re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to shoot wolves from airplanes, deny evolution, and act out drills preparing them for the Rapture.

In recent days, liberals have turned to sometimes-ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers on Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney hits to prove they were alive in the ’50s. ‘If they can’t identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age,’ an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies. ‘I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can’t support them,’ an Ottawa resident said. ‘How many art history and English majors does one country need?’

Thank you for stopping by, In GOD We Trust, God bless you all, listen to The O Word on BlogTalkRadio, Wear Red on Fridays, and support Warriors for Innocence!
