Nannie took a good deal of responsibility for keeping the family together and maintaining contact with other family members - She lived in Rochester, N.Y. and much of the later care for both her mother and her father was assumed by her. What we know of Phederus' family has come through her correspondence. Dates, however, were largely overlooked.
