Thursday Round Up

October 16th, 2008 . by Cary

Sorry for the late start – MEG had a doctor’s appointment.

Let’s get right to it, shall we? And, since blogrolling.com seems to be having trouble (again!) I’m really glad I have my sidebar list – although it doesn’t tell me who’s got new entries, so we’ll just go right on through it! In all fairness, if the blog entry is more than three days old, I won’t mention it…

First stop is A Sense of Place. Always nice to see Steve’s pictures – whether from the back of a bike or out the front of his house. I am still jealous of his view.

A couple of good articles to read prior to the casting of your ballot on Amazed In His Presence.

Amboy Times has a nice piece (part of a blogburst) regarding the Obamanation’s so-called “economic” plan.

Go on over to American And Proud and ask Bush where he stands on the issue of Murtha. I dare you. I double dare you.

Ol’ Broad has a nice collection of Obama pictures for your edification…

Richard has a word about the current Wall Street feelings, and just to ease your fears, a few pictures of early-feeding ducks on his lake, over on At The Water.

Blackfive is – well, Blackfive. Go. Now.

Bloviating Zeppelin has a nice little article (it ties in with Texas Fred’s. below…) about protection and safety.

You can find a review of last night’s debate on Bottom Line Up Front.

GuyK has a word of sit and wisdom over at Charming, Just Charming.

mdconservative has a nice looking piece of legal paper that should be resolved before the election is allowed to continue…

cookiecrumbexpress has a reminder for those who would push “tommy” to the back under the Obamanation.

More required reading about the Obamanation can be found on Do The Right Thing.

Still think that all the hulabaloo about ACORN and voter fraud is overblown, and not to be worried about? Then you haven’t been over to Dumb Looks Still Free with his expansion on the theme…

Gateway Pundit is chuckling a bit about the Dems’ view of a flyer calling for foreign policy accountability.

Gawfe has a nice, concise, two-point recap of the debate on his site at Gawfer.

Now, I’m not nearly finished here, but life keeps getting in the way of my commentary. I will be back later with the rest of my round-up.

2241 hours: that’s quite an interruption. It is also, apparently, enough time for blogrolling to come up for a bit.

Check out both sides of the story (Moose Mints, anyone?) at the BLOG.

What could the FBI want with Mahoney? Gateway Pundit knows…

Old Soldier shows his admiration for Sarah Palin with news of a siting at Wal-Mart.

RattlerGator has a new favorite country song.

The Chief has a nice photo on The Roland Blog.

Best wishes to Nancy Reagan from The Bull.

Another one bites the dust – Texas Fred fills us in on another loser in the Castle Doctrine war.

Jenn has a little bit on the fake “kill him” remark reported by the Scranton Times and not yet retracted by anyone who has credited the Times with the first report…like ABC… or Olbermann…

Political Pistachio wants to know why Obama will give an employer a $3000 tax credit for hiring a new employee…

Another quick review by Mary, this one from the wife of Lakewood’s Joel Osteen.

Andrew Tallman has a “happy” thought!

Quick hita all around from LimaLimaMikeFoxtrot. (Good to see you active again, Mac and wife!)

The audio clip on Pitchpull should be enough to make you go out and shake your head in sadness at all the Democrats out there who don’t pay attention to what is being said…

The American Apologist (welcome to the round-up!) is admittedly behind the curve, but would like to know why the Obamanation doesn’t just pony up the documents. Personally, I think it’s because the ink ain’t dry yet…

Oliver Stone has not learned Rule Number One yet – do not piss off the Redhead.

ablur wants to know if the Omabanation is eligible, too.

Help Kathi spread the word about writing to our soldiers. Details are on her site (new location!), Mail Call!.

I’m going to finish off this round up with the positive news from my favorite Canadian – The Loon shares news from Iraq.

Thank you for stopping by, In GOD We Trust, God bless you all, listen to The O Word on BlogTalkRadio, Wear Red on Fridays, and support Warriors for Innocence!

Thursday Sorta Round Up

October 9th, 2008 . by Cary

Short way around – please visit the blogroll at the top of the Blogroll Page.

Today, I sing the praises (well-deserved) of my wife, TMBWitW.

While I was traveling back and forth to Flagstaff, she was going through end-of-month and end-of-quarter hoops as an accountant. Not being an accountant myself, I don’t pretend to know all that she does, but it involves closing books and balancing doo-dads, widgets, and recons. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week she worked half-days, so that MEG would’nt have to be away from home ALL day. Thursday, TMBWitW delayed going in until after the radiator was in so I wouldn’t have to try to corral MEG while I was under the QX4. Friday TMBWitW took the day off.

Monday and Tuesday, TMBWitW also took the days off so that I would be able to help my church build the play structure in the new kid’s play area. In the process, I managed to break through a ladder rung and scrape the heck out of my right outer shin with two deck screws. That’s gonna leave a mark.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to my lovely wife for the love, support, and concern she has shown me – first, the entire time we’ve been married, and second, especially this past couple of months. She has really been hit hard by Logan, and now the loss of a sister-in-law; through it all she has managed to help me get through the same losses.

(private note to my wife: I love you!)

Thursday Round Up

September 25th, 2008 . by Cary

I slept through the alrm that would have allowed me to get up and go to the autoparts store to get the last few items needed for the radiatorectomy that is needed on the QX4. I didn’t really feel like rolling around under the SUV to begin with…

Let’s start off this bailout Thursday Round Up with a very astute and, it would seem, right on the mark observation of the origin of this issue on Bloviating Zeppelin. That’s right, folks – political correctness run amuk. Again.

GuyK over at Charming, Just Charming knows the politicians are worth every penny paid for them, and decides to go with humor to keep from getting too mad.

Take a break and enjoy the view of the flycatchers and other fauna around Richard’s place, At The Water.

Near picture of a Reaper on BlackFive.

Pastor Ed Boston got some good news about “Drill Here, Drill Now” and would like to share it with you on Do The Right Thing.

Chief Roland has a cool picture of a Marine exiting a CH-53 on The Roland Blog.

An ode to the Superfortress from the Loon on One Loon’s Tales.

Oh, to be in Alaska, and sharing the views and natural abundance. Next best thing? Read about Alaska Steve enjoying his view, and not having to share the natural abundance on A Sense Of Place. (Hey, Steve, work on being able to share the berries over the ‘net, ‘kay?)

Inspiring, as usual. Andrew Tallman.

Improv Everywhere has details up for The Great MP3 Experiment 2008 – check for details in your area.

Akinoluna has an insight about the “foreign experience” brouhaha surrounding a certain candidate. And by the way, Akinoluna – thank you for your continued service. I really do appreciate that you are carrying on a long-standing tradition of selfless sacrifice for your country.

Samantha has a word or two about “research” and “study groups” on Samantha Speaks.

Jenn, of Jungle fame, has posted about Senators doing the job they were elected to do. As usual, the Lefty Contingent sees it as an entirely different matter.

Fred has a really neat idea for an economic recovery plan. See the details on Texas Fred’s.

Old Soldier made it through Ike – go check out the pics of the storm damage…

Kathi has the Wednesday Hero up on Mail Call! Supporting the Troops.

Still have questions about the banking issues here in the US? Head over to Dumb Looks Still Free and let AJacksonian school you a little bit.

Third Wave Dave is taking a much-deserved break. He has left a number to call to voice your concern about the latest bail out…

Cube outdoes herself today, and within a few entries manages to hit on Nature, Foreign Leaders, Lack of History, and Mathematics. Go, see the artistry at the BLOG.

The list of Things That Offend muslims continues to grow on Amboy Times. May it always be so. Pretty soon, maybe they will be offended out of existence. Just sayin’…

You will find a background testimony about Johnny Helms over at Amazed In His Presence.

Greybeard registers displeasure at a lame attempt at “comedy” on Pitchpull.

mdconservative® has a word about Euroweenie Missles on his Conservative Intelligence Report.

Bushwack wants you to support your local PD. Find out why at American And Proud Of It.

RegularRon thinks that if we are going to be forced to accept public bails of private companies, then the example in India should be followed… on The Old Right Daily.

Mary discusses The Shack and reminds me to get off my butt and finish it.

cookiecrumbexpress has a quick rundown of the forces that support the Obamanation.

Last, but certainly not least, RattlerGator takes a break from his insightful political analysis and turns his eye towards a travesty of justice in the Football Hall of Fame.

Thank you for stopping by, In GOD We Trust, God bless you all, listen to The O Word on BlogTalkRadio, Wear Red on Fridays, and support Warriors for Innocence!

It Sure Is Quiet In Here

September 4th, 2008 . by Cary

Yes, very quiet indeed.

With Logan’s passing, even the house seems to be depressed. We are all working through the grief at our own pace, and we would like to thank everyone who has taken the time, either here or in e-mail, or by calling, to offer condolences and support.

I normally run a round-up on Thursdays, I don’t have the desire today. Well, that’s not quite accurate. I want to run the round-up, because my regular reads are so darned impressive with their entries, but just making this entry is kind of anti-climatic, in a weird sort of way.

SO – I will still be doing the show, but I may not be blogging as much in the near future. Of course, having said that, I will be inspired to write thirty five entries over the next three days, and overwhelm you all with the all-or-nothingness of my posting.

To those of you with whom I share editorial responsibilities, my normal output of outside articles (which, so far, has been zero) may be further reduced. That means you may all owe me an entry or two before this is all over.

I am, actually, deeply examining my blogging habits. Right now I am leaning toward allowing this to go full circle and go back to being a blog about the Cartter family, and relegating The O Word to page status. Prayers, good thoughts, whatever, would be appreciated.

I really do appreciate you all. Thank you for stopping by.
