Does the Media have a duty to only report the facts and let the viewer think about the facts and make up their own mind? Well, in theory, that’s the way it’s supposed to work.

Back to the Media’s “neutrality” – or, really, lack thereof – if you happen to Google “SB1062” most of the entries that are from Major Media Outlets have the phrase (or variations thereof) “Anti-Gay Measure” attached to the headline. The NFL, NHL, NASCAR, Major League Baseball, Apple, Intel, and a host of other businesses all pressured Brewer to veto the bill, based on nothing more than the pressure from the Homosexual Agenda Pushers. Brewer caved in to the economic threats, based on the Media pushing the Homosexual Agenda and pointing out that the measure was “flagrantly anti-gay”.

Simple research (see the links above) shows that SB1062 was not a new bill, but a clarification of the Free Exercise of Religion statures in Section 41 of the Arizona Revised Statues. Eighteen states have Religious Freedom Restoration Act laws on the books, Arizona being one of them. Arizona legislators wanted to refine the scope of the statue. Members of the Media and the Homosexual Agenda groups wanted to blunt the statue, so they attacked the Senate Bill. Enough fuss was raised, and stink ensued, that Brewer caved in the face of the economic threats and dire predictions of economic devastation. Devastation? When only 3% of the entire US population identify as homosexual, how can that possibly affect a state’s economy? Even if all the gays in the US stayed away from Arizona for a year, there would be no impact. Unfortunately, the quasi-Gay Support groups that used to be known as SPorts Franchises decided to throw in with the Homosexual Agenda, as did large corporations who have been cowed into bowing to the 3%. Instead of businesses, they are now propaganda machines.

I haven’t been following football very closely since about 1984, so I won’t miss that. Hockey – meh. Baseball? Well, I’m going to miss that. And NASCAR. That one hurts. All of these “sports” threatened to withdraw from the state of Arizona if Brewer did not veto the bill. Apple, Intel, and others threatened to withdraw from Arizona if Brewer did not veto the bill.

Politics is passe. The New Power is Economic Blackmail (see: Obamacare).

Everyone remembers or knows about the Great Depression of 1929 – Black Tuesday, the stock market “crash”, the long road to recovery lengthened by the economic policies of Hoover and Roosevelt (they both chose to interfere with and try to direct the actions of the free market, causing the recovery to to take longer to gain traction). What a lot of people DON’T remember is the recession of 1921, when Harding was president. Hollywood and the fledgling movie industry were hit very hard when people could not afford to attend the flickers – at one point, movie theaters were selling tickets two-for-one, and premiums were given away with tickets at others.

How did Hollywood learn? By watching Harding’s, and after his death, Coolidge’s, policies of cutting taxes, slashing spending, and removing economically retarding regulations. Basking in looser regulations and lower taxes, Hollywood grew by leaps and bounds along with the United States – in 1921, the unemployment rate (measured as people out of work) was at 11.7% and had dropped to a peace-time record of 1.7% within five years – while after the Crash, Hoover and Roosevelt increased taxes, increased spending, and tighter regulations strangled the economy until well into the 1940s.

Sound familiar?

Just imagine where we would be as a nation if the current administration had decreased taxes when so urged, cut spending when that was suggested, and removing choking levels of bureaucratic regulations – instead, we have the highest peacetime unemployment (not the “official” count where people who can’t find work are counted and people who aren’t working are not … huh?) ever of 24.3% (or so – no one has a solid number, except for the fake 7% number). What could you do if you had more money in your pocket and less rules about where you could spend it?

Nowadays, Hollywood leads the left in demanding more government interference and larger control by the government.

I tell you, McCarthy was way ahead of his time.

Today marks the day that the United States Flag was raised on Mt. Surabachi on Iwo Jima, Japanese Territories, during the battle for that island in World War II in 1945.

Joe Rosenthal, an AP photographer, has been credited with the iconic photograph that has defined the spirit of the Marine Corps since then; it has also been turned into the Marine Corps Memorial in Washington DC.

The Photograph as taken was composed in landscape mode, and snapped as a reflex to what was going on, according to accounts by Rosenthal and others:

The flag raisers are (left to right) Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, John Bradley and Harlon Block, Michael Strank (behind Sousley) and Rene Gagnon (behind Bradley). Strank, Block and Sousley would die shortly afterwards. Bradley, Hayes and Gagnon became national heroes within weeks. Bradley managed to put his life back together, Gagnon was dealing with memories the rest of his life, and Ira Hayes could not process his actions against the reaction of the public – he ended up drinking himself to death, lamenting the loss of so many men on Iwo Jima and him being treated as the “Hero” by public and press alike.

An AP photo editor cropped the image and it became a rally point for the US:

Shortly after “THE” photo was snapped, a picture was taken to commemorate the occasion:

This is the picture Rosenthal was thinking of when asked if the Iwo Jima Flag picture was posed. You see, Joe was still on the island, and had not seen the edited version that was already being published across the United States.

And yes, the Rosenthal picture is the second flag to be raised on Surabachi. That fact was never hidden, but the press didn’t think that told the story strongly enough. No foreshadowing here, folks. No snarky remarks about how improved and less manipulative the media has become.

I was just sitting at my computer at work, and during my break I happened to open up Facebook. Wonderful tool, Facebook. Lets you know the minutia in everyone’s lives. Well, everyone with an internet connection and a Facebook account, anyway.

I ran across a story that had me doing several things at once: Laughing out loud (coworkers think I’ve lost it), crying in frustration, shaking my head in wonderment, and mourning the death of Common Sense. Yes, you’ve seen the meme that says CS died a while ago, but this confirms it:

“It is bothersome to have to post a sticker of a gun that says, ‘Hey, folks, leave your guns at home,’” Theresa Nolan, principal of Tinley Park High School, told the SouthtownStar.

Nolan stressed that she is very concerned with “safety and security” and concerned that, somehow, someone could wrongly interpret an image of a gun emblazoned with the universal sign for prohibiting something.

“I think the general public will be alarmed by it and wonder if people have been allowed to bring guns to school in the past,” Nolan also fretted.

She said she would prefer “something more subtle.”

“You can’t look at this (sticker) and not think about Sandy Hook,” the principal added.

First off, let me assure you I am very much a supporter of Gun Control. Use two hands if you need to, but be in control of your gun at all times. Second, people SHOULD be reminded of Sandy Hook every day – and Aurora, and Columbine, and the Maryland Mall – all places where guns are prohibited, unless you are going to kill lots of people, then you can bring your guns to these target-rich environments where NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.

We, as a country, have decided that the best way to keep our children safe and educated is to isolate them on open campuses with no weapons allowed.

This is stupid.

Let me also assure you that when my family is near me, they are protected.

Period.

You may interpret that any way you want to.

And yes, I am very pissed about the Progressive’s constant attack on the Second Amendment.
