Captain Rob Yllescas
December 1st, 2008 . by CaryThe Captain passed away earlier today.
To the Yllescas family: Thank you for the service of your husband, son, brother, father – he is a man among men, and he will be missed. Please accept the condolences of a grateful nation.
Cary, I wrote:
“God bless Rob for his service, may he rest now, complete and whole in front of the Lord. It’s an amazing thing to think that you have so many people, via this blog, praying for your family every day. He has only relinquished his body here on earth; he will live on in so many other people’s lives. I didn’t know Rob but I certainly know good American Warriors like him.”

your comment on Dena’s blog was heart wrenching….beautiful. I am going to use your flag pic on my blog and I hope you don’t mind.
thank you
BZ – very moving words. I saw your comment in the blizzard of others (I made comment number 111 or so, and subscribed; since then there have been more than 250 comments added) and I had to nod in agreement.
Paige: Thank you. You are welcome to use the picture, I found it out on the web and borrowed it myself. If I find out who took it, I will pass that information along.
I knew Rob in High School in Guatemala. My parents are missionaries there… I just wanted to say that today is a sad day for America..they have lost a great American hero. He with his Savior now and I’m sure that he is walking with two new legs on streets of gold! My prayers are with his family…his parents, Dena and the girls! I didn’t go to bed one night without reading the blog that she would write every night updating us on his condition. I pray for their strength through this very difficult time..please if you are reading this..please say a prayer for them. I know they can use all the prayers they can get right now!
First of all, thank you for stopping by, Amy. This is a sad time indeed, for the passing of a hero.
Trust me when I say this – a day has not gone by that I have not bathed the Yllescas family in prayer. While we mourn the loss of the Captain, we can revel in the fact that he will be with the Lord at the Last Trumpet.
I know the photo itself is not what this post is about, but it is an awesome photo. I am more visiual than words.
Leedra – that’s what I thought, when I saw the photo. It is just an excellent shot.
Now, if I could only remember where I found it so I could properly credit the photographer.
