I Stand Before You, Corrected
May 10th, 2006 . by CaryI have a regular reader. This kind of threw me for a curve. I know that if you put a blog out here, join BlogMad or Blog Explosion or Blog Soldiers, then you will have people cruising by; and if you interact with other bloggers they may find your blog interesting enough to read also. Still, the fact that this guy actually comes by every day and reads what I may or may not have posted is kinda … well, humbling.
John, I apologize. I should have been more prolific. I really don’t have any excuse for not taking ten or fifteen minutes and letting my mind pour out. It’s not like I don’t have anything stimulating my thought processes, since the active members of my blog roll get read and usually commented on everyday, but I try to avoid the impression of a complimentary circle of bloggers who just sit around, read each others’ posts, nod their heads, say “yup, yup..” and then post a link back to each other. I do try to get some newsworthy event mentioned, or at least come up with a bingo-moment statement. Sometimes, I’ll even reflect on past events in my own life.
So – I’ll try to be more on the ball. I don’t want to fall into the habit of posting on a scheduled topic on a scheduled day (not that there’s anything wrong with that; it’s just not ‘me’) but I also don’t want to disappoint the regular reader out there.
God bless you all.
Cary, I’ve found that I enjoy the posts (on all of the blogs that I visit) that have a more personal touch. I can read the same commentary on illegal immigration, or any other topic, on just about every blog out there, but hearing someone’s personal thoughts or opinion is much more stimulating than a simple re-hash of a news headline (which I’ve been guilty of as well).
My giving you a hard time about the frequency of your posting was just that; me giving you a hard time.
Heck, if you only posted once a month, I’d still check in daily. It’s become part of my regular routine. That’s why I don’t have an enormous blogroll. I really do visit them all daily. Not out of any sense of loyalty, but out of enjoyment. I’m guaranteed to find some good reading every day.
Thanks for the kind words, and keep up the good work.
Aw, I knew you were giving me a hard time; I figured I would play it a bit and generate more words for the post. I certainly didn’t mean to make it sound like it did, now that I am re-reading it.
Sure does appear to be whining on my part, doesn’t it?
Oh, you jarheads!
Where is the ‘asprit de corps’ I heard so much about?
I read your blog most every day too, and you don’t hear me whining about reading the same stuff over and over again.
I guess I missed yesterday though… sorry.
BTW, that pic of B$H on JJ’s is somewhere in my archive… and I had the perfect quote… until you beat me to it. Dang! I gotta pay more attention to this stuff and less attention to work!
Keep up the good work bro.
Go Navy
Gunny outranks me, so I had to put something up there, and I had to take the hard time he gave me.
By the way, it’s Espirit, with an “e” – figures the swabbie can’t even spell it…
Yes, I just gave you a hard time – it’s in the Corps’ oath. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
Hey,
I’m missing a finger on my left hand so my typing suffers with mispelled words and double spaces…
and its esprit de corps, not espirit…
Merriam websters-

Ha!
Then I stand corrected. Again. By the way, having all your fingers does not ensure correct spelling. Just to let you know.
I think we shoud quit using the french expression anyway. – How about ‘Troop Camaraderie’? –
Wait, camaraderie has it’s roots in French too. I have to wonder how they managed to come up with those words anyway. – Perhaps for the French, waving a white flag inspires brotherhood.
