This and That
July 3rd, 2006 . by CaryThousands of illegal immigrants cross the US/Mexico border, in a southern direction, and after they vote in “their” national election, we let them back into the US. Can you say “anal-cranial inversion?” I knew you could…
My weekends are made for TMBWitW and TMBCitW, with some home improvement/renovation projects along the way. That’s why you don’t see any new posts on the weekends, and why I don’t usually respond to my e-mail after 10:00 or so Friday morning… normally.
prying1 sez© he and Mrs. prying1 can’t talk to each other unless they are in the same room, due to acoustic issues. I have that same problem, only it’s even in the same room when I’m over the sink and TMBWitW is talking to me and expecting me to hear over the rush of water in the concave bowl, which focuses the sound on my ears and pretty much drowns out everything else…
Having a job that requires you to work on July 3rd, before the July 4th holiday, is the pits. It really sucks if you don’t have any vacation to take the day off. It really, really sucks that due to a job opportunity that didn’t pan out you don’t even get paid for the Fourth, since you don’t have 90 days at the company yet (timer starts over when you return to the company). On the other hand, I give God all the praise that I can muster that I have a job, because there are many in this country who don’t even have that much.
Dogs, having learned that they can sleep on the bed with the humans, take up way too much space. Apparently, once they are domesticated, the dogs lose the ability to sleep curled up in a ball with their noses tucked under their tails. The preferred position is stretched out, with the nose tucked into the nearest nook or cranny of the closest human. (cold nose in the butt at 1:45 am? that’s a wake-up call)
Did you have a good weekend? Do you have big plans for the Fourth?
A big thank you to all the veterans out there – past, present, and even future (Hi Sammy!) – for helping to secure and preserve the freedoms we enjoy in this country. Ooh-Rah! Semper Fi!
God bless you all, and be safe, OK? I don’t have many readers, but I would sure miss you if anything happened.
Cary-I hope your 4th is extra good to you since you do have to work today. Bummer. And as for the dog that hogs the bed, we have a 4 year old that does that. We have a king size bed and he lays side-to-side while dh and I scramble for cover and bedspace. I’ve woken up to a butt in the face-probably not like a cold nose in the butt…but close! 🙂
Thanks, Mary! Our smallest, a doxie/cocker mix, likes to sleep on my pillow, kind of draping over my head. Sometimes she gets twisted around and I wake up to an interesting sight/odor combination…
Have a safe one, and thanks for stopping by!
Scheesh Cary – Too much information! – How am I supposed to get that picture you painted out of my head in time to enjoy the 4th?
Thanks for the link – So you have accoustical problems too huh? Sure hope TMBWitW understands why you didn’t hear her talking last Thursday about the visit to the Joneses and why you aren’t ready to go when you are supposed to be there in 15 minutes, etc, etc, etc…
LOL, hey, I’m at work right now and wanted to thank you for the laugh. You guys are all funny!!!
I’ll be here at work again on the night of the 4th as well. I hope you all enjoy the holiday, but stay safe. I don’t want to see any of you in my ER!!!!!!
You are most welcome, prying1. Anything I can do to burn images into your brain…
Out of all the ERs in all the hospitals, sues’ is the one I would want to land in… if I needed to land in one.
You’re welcome anytime Cary, just call ahead and I’ll clear a path thru the chaos for you!!
