Late Monday Post

June 29th, 2009 . by Cary

MEG and I took a little adventure this morning. We drove over to Christown Mall and hopped aboard the light rail for a trip downtown. When we got there, we walked over to TMBWitW’s office and took her out to lunch (Café Roma) and then rode the light rail back to Christown and drove home.

MEG was not impressed with the light rail (I call it a street car, for that is, in fact, what it is) and after the second stop she said “I’m done.”

On the way home, I managed to get a shot of this genius:

overloaded car

…just before Phoenix PD pulled him over. Gee, I wonder why he caught the cops attention? And, I sure hope he had a temporary license plate in plain view somewhere on that vehicle…

My friend Johnny T. Helms has written a piece (actually, he wrote it last Friday, the 26th) regarding the “Ugliest Freedom” that I think you need to read.

You also need to check out this video unless, of course, you lean to the left and have no concept of duty, honor, or courage.

Chat ya later…

That’s what we’ll all be doing after we lose our homes, because we can’t take the onerous additional taxes the state and federal governments will be levying against us soon.

We’re looking forward to using the Light Rail system there on our next visit. The train stops at a station just two blocks from Big Bubba’s apartment in Mesa. It’s similar to the system we have here at BigTown, and I LOVE using that train to get to/from the airport!
(But didn’t I read where some homeless guy decided the train was a good latrine a couple weeks ago?)
If folks don’t feel safe on the train, it will fail in short order.

BZ – doing what, scrapyarding to make money? Yer probably right…

GB – two-fifty for an all-day pass, per person, and just avoid the cars too far from the operator. Yes, if you don’t feel safe, you won’t use it – and multiply that by the millions that ARE using it, and you will quickly have an oversized paperweight on your hands.
