December 7, 1941
December 7th, 2006 . by CaryA day which has lived in infamy, and marked the start of the involvement of the United States in the Second World War. Imperial Japanese forces attacked US Naval ships at Pearl Harbor, causing the country to be galvanized into a formidable force.
May God bless those who perished, those who survived, and those who remember this day.
We can never forget brother. We should think about it a lot more often than we do. We can learn a great deal as a nation from that era on how to unite as a country and have the resolve, loyaly, patriotism, and courage to see this war through. The greatest generation had all those qualities and more. They stuck together ensuring and accepting nothing less than a complete and honorable victory.
As long as I have breath, I will not forget how strong that generation was. Here in the Phoenix metro area, there are quite a few members of that generation; the paper ran a series this week with survivor’s stories. A lot of them are in their eighties; how long we will have them around to honor as the heroes they truly are is not for us to say. We must, however, honor them while they are with us and honor their memories when they have finished their watch.
Above all else, those of us who follow this Greatest Generation must step up and continue to be vigilant, as they were, against the forces that would scuttle this great ship called the United States of America.
Amen brother. I keep seeing one tragedy after another (culminating on 9/11) and wonder when America will truly unite against our enemies. It wouldn’t have taken this long in the 40’s.
If this had been the forties, there would have been a real estate mogul selling lots with frontage on Lake Iraq by now…
