The “Magic” is Wearing Thin
April 25th, 2011 . by CaryWell, it seems that the “magic” is wearing thin on our fearful leader. Now he’s saying there is no “magic bullet” to bring down gas prices.
First off, when Reuters misquotes an article it is itself providing and writing the headline for, then you know the MSM is on shaky ground.
Second, yes, Mr. O’Blivious, there is a “magic bullet” to lower fuel prices – make it more conducive to gas and oil companies to drill on our own soil. Oddly enough, even announcing that there will be more drilling will lower the speculation levels, causing prices to start dropping, and allowing the pressure at the pump on Joe and Jane Worker to ease.
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said in response to the president that the Obama administration over the past two years has “declared what can only be described as a war on American energy.”
“It’s canceled dozens of drilling leases, imposed a moratorium on drilling off the Gulf Coast and increased permit fees. It’s done just about everything it can to keep our own energy sector from growing,” McConnell said.
McConnell said more must be done to increase domestic oil production.
So, Mr. Resident, allow me to chamber a “magic bullet” into your arsenal of teleprompter-fed lines: “Today, I am instructing all involved agencies to reduce all costs for permits and filing fees for oil and gas exploration on United States soil, effective immediately. I fully expect all interested parties to begin drilling by the end of this summer.”
Not that any other president has ever taken my advice on how to shore up his reputation.
Chat ya later…

Funny how the gas prices took a nosedive when GWB announced he was looking into lifting the moratorium on drilling offshore…and that’s only been a couple of years ago.
Yeah, too bad GWB shot that magic bullet already …
Wait, couldn’t O’Blivious say the same thing?
Nah – anyone who knows of him knows he would just be lying…
Ya know, if I was Obama, I don’t think *magic bullet* would be a term I would use… 😕
Yeah, actually, O’Blivious didn’t. He said silver bullet. Reuters misquoted him, and that phrase took off.
But you’re right, I don’t think he should be using ANY phrase with “bullet” in it.
Paul Harvey had a better answer. He said whatever the rag heads charge us for a barrel of oil, we charge them the same price for a bushel of wheat. Seems like sound business to me. – Lahry
Since the spot market says wheat is selling at 525/bushel, yeah, let’s jack the price of wheat to match the price of oil! I can think of several farmers in the Midwest who would love to get over 10,000 cents per bushel!
You’re right – Obozo won’t listen to you, or to me, or to his conscience (assuming he has one), or to common sense (which he obviously lacks).
In the long run, the only thing that we can REALLY do is to keep the blame focused on the Obama Administration for high fuel prices, and keep the issue in front of the public until 2012 and way beyond.

Off-topic: We just adopted a cat (an abandoned kitten from a motorhome park) and are currently trying to introduce the new cat to our other cat. They’re very afraid of each other. 🙁 We’ll get her shots, spayed, etc. when we get back home.
1389 – good points. I’ve joined the campaign.
The cat thing? yeah, that takes time and patience. Good luck, and I hope they don’t skin each other before they become friends.
