Cary, Are You Qualified To Be President?

February 2nd, 2007 . by Cary

According to this, I am.

I am at least 35 years old. (at least!)

I was born in the United States.

I have been a resident of the United States for at least fourteen years prior to the elections on November 4, 2008.

And, I’ve been getting increasingly upset about how the career politicians have been running this country into the ground.

Oh, wait – that last part isn’t in Article 2, is it? I think it should be an amendment, along with term limits for any representative. Like, two terms maximum. Lifetime, any party, any affiliation, any office. Pick the office you want to run for, and if elected, serve your time. Then get out and go back to being a citizen. Let another citizen-statesman step up to the plate. I personally feel this should be the case for any elected office, from President to State Mine Inspector.

Thank you for stopping by, God bless you all, Wear Red on Fridays, and write in Cary Cartter for President in 2008!

Should have mentioned securing politicians retirement to Social Security and no other government retirement programs. See how quick they fix it.

I had mentioned that very thing on a previous post, Paul. I agree, they would get their hands out of that cookie jar in a heartbeat.

Cary for Prez…I like the idea. Good luck

As for term limits. It all sounds great but those who will be going to DC to serve (themselves) will adjust to any new law limiting them, and they will find a way to get their hands in the cookie jar.

Congress stopped serving the people yrs ago…DC is just one giant ATM machine to those in office. We’re paying the bill as will your kids and grandkids.

Thanks, Dave – I need all the exposure I can get. Be sure to pass my name on to everyone you know!

If we get rid of the career politicians, and only true statesmen serve, then the money thing won’t be an issue.

Spending millions of dollars to win a position that only pays a fraction of that is a telling point – they aren’t there for the salary, they are going to line their pockets from special interests!

We need to get “We The People” back in charge of the politicians, not the other way around.

no disrespect Cary, but the last time we elected average joe who said he would rely upon qualified and learned advisors, we got George W Bush.

What assurance can you give us that you will know you are being led down a wrong path?

First, electing a Career Politician, and believing something he said?

Leaving that alone, I cannot assure you that I will never make a mistake. I am human, but I will do my best to make the best decision in regards to the needs of THIS COUNTRY, not what would best serve my career. I’m not in this to be a politician for the rest of my life; I want to serve the country one more time before I die. If that service ends up only being a footnote in this election, but the nation starts to rise up and DEMAND that their representatives actually, well, REPRESENT them, then I will have accomplished my goal.
