Simple Solution

February 13th, 2007 . by Cary

This article in the Arizona Republic highlights the issues faced by a certain group of laborers in the Phoenix area.

This Certain Group of Laborers is in the country without benefit of legal paperwork.

They are being “forced” to work in dangerous condition with less-than-optimal safety equipment and/or training.

I have a very simple solution.

Don’t come here illegally. Then, the companies will be forced to actually hire legal citizens, who are willing to work these jobs, and who already know how to be safe on the job.

In the story, there is mention of one worker who was making $13.00 an hour as a roofer. I was making that in the eighties, in Flagstaff, as a roofer.

Tell me again how illegal immigrants don’t affect the overall wage structure of an area?

Thank you for stopping by, God bless you all, Wear Red on Fridays, and write in Cary Cartter for President 2008 Cary Cartter for President in 2008!

    Ya nailed it, I think.
I wrote an article about the minimum wage, and how if we just stopped illegals from crossing the border, employers would be forced to pay a better wage to attract legal employees to those jobs.
But NO, we must use government to tinker with, and spoil the free market system.

News today is that B.O.A. is offering credit cards to folks without Social Security cards…
Anyone over the age of 4 must have a S.S. card-
so why is there a need here?

I’m more and more fearful of where we, as a country, are headed.

I asked a manager type at a local BoA branch why they were catering to the illegals – “Because to ignore such a large market share doesn’t make business sense.”

I left, after asking what would happen if the citizens started to pull their money out of businesses that didn’t ignore that segment?

The following is a copy that I commented on Gawers site-

I’m working on an Irish blog and I came over some info about Irish Immigration.
Anyhow, I found out that in 1986 Pres. Reagan signed an Immigration law giving US citizenship to any who are eligible.
Over 2 million Illegals became US citizens (amnesty).
    I never realized that!
The info said for every 1 of those 4 replaced them.

Clearly amnesty that did not work!

“I have a very simple solution.
    Don’t come here illegally.”

I like your logical reasoning Cary. It seems they want us to feel sorry for them?
When in fact they are criminals!
    Boot ’em out!

The 1986 Amnesty is the one dark spot on Reagan’s record, as far as I know. The estimates were for 2 million illegals, and more than 8 million filed for the amnesty. It probably didn’t help that the time frame allowed many more to sneak into the country illegally and “create” the necessary paperwork to “prove” their residency.

Attrition through enforcement is the only answer now. Enforce the laws that are on the books, and the illegals will gladly remove themselves form the job market, since they won’t be making any money and will have to leave in order to survive…
