Robert and Sheila
October 18th, 2005 . by CarySaturday morning, I finally got to see Robert again, after twenty five years:
Having retired from the USMC, he is authorized to wear his dress blues for formal occasions. Getting married is pretty formal.
Here’s a shot of me, Robert, and the third of four, Kenny:
The fourth, Gene, couldn’t attend due to his religious beliefs. He’s a Jehovah’s Witness. They aren’t allowed in other places of worship. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen him again also. Can’t have everything, I guess.
On to the ceremony!
This is Sheila’s mom, on the left, and Bob’s mom, on the right, lighting the family candles. That’s Pastor Jeff Coggins on the far right.
Bob waiting patiently:
Wait’ll you see her. You’d wait patiently too. Yowsa.
This is Denise, Sheila and Bob’s next door neighbor, and their ‘official’ photographer:
Hard to tell who was in who’s way. My guess is the only shots she has of me are the ones I’m supposed to be in.
And then I finally “met” Sheila:
What’d I tell you? Yowsa, right?
She looked at me, said “Are you Cary?”
I said “Yes, Ma’am.” Then I went over and hugged her. She started crying, and thanked me for making the trip to be at their wedding.
I got a lot of that while I was there.
Here’s Sheila and her dad, Henry, waiting to make their appearance:
Good thing they’re not nervous or anything.
Melissa Grinnell sang a bit to keep us occupied:
Good voice, good song, very pleasant to listen to. I am sure we have all sat through the friend of the bride or groom who begged to sing for them, and no one had the temerity to pull them aside and say “Listen, you sing well enough when it’s just you and the shower head, but out in public – not so much.” This was NOT the case here. Melissa had a set of pipes, and she knew how to use them.
That’s enough for now, I think. This dial-up is so slow (how slow is it?) I’ve been running the dishwasher and the laundry waiting for the pictures to upload. TMBWitW is in school tonight and it’s my night to hang out and clean. And post.
Bob, Sheila: I love you guys. May you be continually blessed.
Looks like a beautiful wedding. Congratulations and best wishes to Sheila and Bob!!
The USMC does have the sharpest Class A uniform, doesn’t it!
Thanks for stopping by, parated2k.
It was a beautiful ceremony, and the USMC does have the sharpest dress uniforms. Bob is wearing the Blues; the Class A is the green jacket with the shirt and tie under. Very sharp.
Cary, these were beautiful! Just wonderful. Thank you for letting me ride on your shoulder to watch. I just love weddings.
Thanks for coming along, Dea!
