Under Fire – Blogs From the Frontline
March 7th, 2006 . by CaryIn this last weekend’s edition of USA Weekend, there was an article about blogs by our troops on the front lines. Inspired by that, I have started a new link section in the left column.
Some of these links are authored by members who have rotated off the front line; once they get home their blogging activity takes a distant second to getting back in touch with their families; for that reason some of them may not be very active.
I realize that some readers of this blog may not share my view of the need for the armed forces to be where they are right now doing what they are doing right now. I hereby agree to disagree with you.
Please, don’t take it out on veterans returning from anywhere. I didn’t get thanked and/or welcomed home until two years ago, when I called the VA office with a question. The first thing the gentleman on the phone said to me was “Thank you for your service, welcome home.” Even now the memory of that part of the conversation (I have since forgotten what I called about) gets me right here.
At the very least, please visit the blogs in the Front Lines section and thank them for their service.
God bless, and stay vigilant.
