Slow Saturday

June 15th, 2013 . by Cary

My new Saturday routine – get up early enough to pick up dog poop before I go to the Men’s Group to sing and play … this afternoon, I picked up my new glasses today. I had ordered new frames and lenses, and also a pair of sunglasses. My eyes are bad enough to require progressive tri- or quad-focals. The sunglasses only have the distance vision in them, so it’s kind of a safety thing, too – I can’t read the phone without my regular glasses, and the sun is usually bright enough that I ain’t driving around without the sunglasses.

How’s that for an exciting post? Now, don’t let all this excitement get to your head and make you run off and do something crazy …

Just Say NO to Obamacare

June 13th, 2013 . by Cary

Remember back when Pelosi (ptui) said they had to pass the Affordable Health Care bill (Obamacare) to know what was in it? Well, it seems Obama’s (THHO) signature legislation has finally been figured out. Now that they know what’s in it, they don’t want any part of it. Funny, but conservative bloggers have been telling them from the get-go that what was in there would create higher cost coverage than what we had then.

My blogging friend BZ has a nice little blurb up:

The fear: Government-subsidized premiums will disappear at the end of the year under a provision in the health care law that nudges aides and lawmakers onto the government health care exchanges, which could make their benefits exorbitantly expensive.

Yeah, now that they’ve saddled US with this crap, they’re high-tailing it out the back door …

Mister Mister

June 10th, 2013 . by Cary

With the weather warming up a bit here in the Valley of the Sun, Pastor figured it was time to do something about the courtyard at the church property. There are two out buildings that run north-south on the property, the Sanctuary runs east-west at the north end of the courtyard, and in between there is a grassy area where we have built a play structure and placed some picnic tables. When it first started getting warm, we rigged up a couple of shade tarps over the tables. Shade by itself, if you’ve spent any time in Phoenix in the summer you will know, just doesn’t cut it.

Saturday morning we placed a misting system along the east walk. Sunday morning, everyone could tell it was working, because the walk up the courtyard was MUCH better than it had been. Maybe not all that much cooler, but the light mist evaporating off your skin sure makes you feel cooler.

It worked so well, that Sunday evening we extended the first run with a T fitting to run across the courtyard and placed a couple more legs on the other side. With the shade tarps, the misting system made sitting outside down right comfortable. We also added a misting system to the play structure, so the kids would not pass out from heat exhaustion while swinging and climbing.

As for me, my weekend was pretty full – pick up the dog poop, sing and play with the men’s group, work on the misting system, spend time at the house with Wife and Child; Sunday morning up and to service, hit Chase Field and watch the Diamondbacks lose to the Giants, back to the church to put up the rest of the misting system while Wife took Child to a classmate’s birthday party, play School with the Child (who, by the way, ignores the fact that she is on Summer Vacation and wants to do school all the time – we must have done something right) and then collapse into bed.

How was your weekend?

First Red Friday in June

They Bled, we wear Red

Happy Donut Day – started back in WWII when the USO was handing out free donuts to troops on the troop trains.

Today marks what would have been Mom’s 85th birthday. We lost her in February of 2010. She raised seven kids on a tight budget, and most of us turned out OK. In fact, six of us don’t have blogs …

Seems Obama(THHO) got caught with his hand in the cookie jar (yet again) and his ear in the business of Verizon customers. Yeah, I know – they only “subpoenaed” the connection details. Wanna bet it breaks later that the CONTENT of those calls were also “analyzed” for terrorist activity? No? Oh, you don’t wanna lose money that easily …

Missing My Readers

June 6th, 2013 . by Cary

I seem to have lost a few readers here on the blog. OK, most of them. Actually, all but me.

My fault entirely. I’ve been remiss in posting here because it’s quicker to post there. You also get faster feed back there, and feedback is the reason for a public blog.

I think part of the malaise is the fact that we have a real loser in the White House. pResident Obama(THHO) seems to be hell bent on not only beating out Carter for worst Democrap President but is also trying to make Nixon look like a choir boy. At Watergate, nobody died. Can’t say the same for the current administration.

Seems like the scandals are piling up higher and deeper, too. Of course, it’s not Obama’s (THHO) fault, since he has no idea what’s going on nor who was doing it. Seems to me that the leader of an organization ought to know who’s doing what and why, or else the office is simply a figure head.

Wait – you don’t think that could be it, do you? Is Obama(THHO) merely a figure head, and someone else is pulling his string? Sure seems like it sometimes – especially during speeches, when Obama(THHO) is speaking and his eyes go all glazed and focus on something none of us can see …

ANYway – yeah, I’ve been AWOL here on the blog. I’m going to try harder, again, and start posting at least twice a week if not more often. No, really, I mean it this time.

Edited the title – de-capitalized the “I” following the initial “M”… you probably didn’t even notice the first time …
