Wait! Where's the pictures? They're supposed to be right here! I swear, you can't find decent help these days...

Well, nutz.

I woke up this morning and Obama(THHO) is still acting like a king.

Two coronations – Sunday, the “official” one, attended only by those who could afford to donate millions of dollars – not to the treasury, to help reduce the debt, oh no – but to Obama’s(THHO) private war chest, so he could maintain his grip on the treasury.

And then the “public” coronation on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. day, so TEH WON could parade down the streets to the hundreds of hundreds of his adoring public.

One question – who told She Who Is Angry that hair style complimented her features? Made her look more like a wookie, if you ask me. No offense to any wookies who might be reading this.

Be It Resolved:

January 1st, 2013 . by Cary

I posted a couple of resolutions on Facebook earlier. A couple of them were jokes. Several were not.

I do resolve to live for God more and for myself less.

I do resolve to actually back up giving up the soda with an increase in physical fitness, with the intended result of losing weight. Lots of weight. This morning I was at 228. That’s about fifty more than I should be carrying around. And, of course, I feel it every step of the way. Although to be sure, I am down from the 250 I was about three or four years ago.

And the most controversial resolution so far: I resolve to carry concealed wherever I go. Yes, even where open carry is acceptable, I will still keep it concealed. Why? Because the bad guys don’t deserve any more warning than what they give their intended target.

Merry Christmas 2012

December 25th, 2012 . by Cary

Good morning! Merry Christmas! The time seems to fly by so quickly, it seems like a few months ago we were doing the same thing … of course, it helps that I’m not in retail this year and I can actually spend time with the family group this year!

As I sit here this morning, listening to the animals with their not-quite-awake noises (who said rabbits are a quiet pet?) and TMBWitW and MEG still sound asleep, I remember when I was a very young boy in a family of seven children. We would be awake and waiting for Mom and Dad to wake up so we could open our presents. Mom and Dad usually accommodated us by getting up when they heard us moving around. By this time of the morning (a little after eight) we would have thrashed the wrapping paper and be gathered around the dining room table eating a huge breakfast.

I sure miss those days, but I also know that they are the basis for who I am. It seems we don’t communicate as often as we should (my sister showed up at the toy store a couple of weeks ago with a plate of cookies for me. i forgot to tell her i wasn’t there any more.) but we still manage to stay in touch for the most part. I think I’m kind of spoiled, in that I use this blog, Twitter, and Facebook to talk to most of my selected family and the blood family that is on those media; I forget that not all my brothers and sisters are on there.

This is also a time of remembering those that are no longer gathering with us – the grandparents, of course – I’m past the half-century mark, and my last grandparent left in the early eighties. Dad passed away in ’93, TMBWitW’s mom passed away on 2006, LeaAnn (the youngest of the sisters) passed away in 2008, and Mom passed away in 2010; there are a lot of people that I have known since then, church family from different churches, that have gone on ahead.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, hold close those you love, let them know how much you love them.

Merry Christmas to my readers – no matter how many or how few, I consider each of you a friend and pray that this season finds you where you need to be.

Police Week

May 15th, 2012 . by Cary

I have a friend named Fred. His daughter is married to a fine upstanding young man who happens to be a Sheriff’s Deputy. She wrote this in honor of her husband:

Every morning I watch him put his vest on.

Then he places his badge on his chest.

He always checks his gun, and makes sure all is in order before he heads out the door for his tour of duty.

I silently pray that he has the presence of mind to shoot first if he needs too.

Even though I know this action may end in his name being degraded in the news and by the public.

No one considers his 2 children at home, they only think of the cracked-out delinquent whose family will claim it was an act of police brutality and excessive force.

No one considers the 48 hour man hunt he may be on in, 100 degree heat, while wearing a ballistics vest and 50 pound rig belt.

The public will criticize him, for not finding him sooner.

No one knows that he watches his children sleep, thinking of the 18 month old he just preformed CPR on, or the 5 year old that died in his arms because his mother didn’t think he needed a car seat.

We don’t shop in Wal-Mart together. He knows he may see someone he arrested, and for fear of retaliation, he doesn’t want his family to be made.

He brings his gun to church, because even there, he scans the crowd, for someone who may pose a threat.

How about that day, he walked into his sons 1st grade class, to rescue a little girl from returning home to a house filled with unspeakable abuse.

He spends his paycheck at the thrift store, stocking up with stuffed animals to pass out to the neighborhood kids he encounters everyday. He spends holidays away from us, attends birthday parties in uniform.

He leaves in the middle of the night, and can’t explain the call from his Lieutenant.

He greets a sobbing family with terrible news, as he vows to find the perpetrator.

He keeps his Bible on the front seat. He knows he needs it.

So before you criticize him for laughing at a crime scene, just remember he has to find a way to block it all out. He wears his badge with pride and honor. He serves the greater good, knowing you will never understand the sacrifices he has made.

He would willing lay down his own life to save yours.

It’s Police Week!

Honor our officers.

“What I Miss … “

May 8th, 2012 . by Cary

I’ve ‘heard’ that the one thing people around me miss while I am going through my lack of hearing is my sense of humor. I miss it too. The problem is, my sense of humor keys off of audio cues – I riff on what other people are saying. Since I can’t hear all the little things that are “riffable” I can’t crack wise. Or smart.

Yes, I can kind of make out what you are saying – if you are looking at me, and I am concentrating on what your lips are saying along with the context clues of your facial features and body language. That concentration is not allowing my mind to wander down the side paths that are where my humor hides; this means there are many gems that won’t see the light of day until I can hear again.

I have been asked if I am going to learn ASL. I am sure that ASL would be a good thing to know. I will probably learn it, yes, but not as my primary means of communication. You see, I believe that God is going to heal me – or He will allow the Doctors to figure out which technology will be best for me. Either way, I know that I am going to hear again. I don’t know when, and I will work on ASL while I am waiting, but ASL is not the answer if my position as a manager of a retail store remains. Not all customers can ‘speak’ ASL, and if one of them is asking me a question form around the corner, and I just walk away …

Today’s testing is complete. The technician mapped my nerves. It was very relaxing; in fact, I’m pretty sure I took a little nap while in the chair. Results will be discussed with the inner ear specialist on the 18th.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I am looking forward to it. I will keep you posted.
