The Dark Side … of Us.

September 24th, 2015 . by Cary

There is some language in the bottom of this article.

My first question when a video of this nature appears is: Why were the low-lifes FILMING this and not INTERVENING? Really? You think getting “likes” on YouTube is more important than helping your fellow man?

Go away from me, I don’t want anything to do with your brand of “humanity”.

The Federalist Papers

September 24th, 2015 . by Cary

“In the first place it is to be remembered that the general government is not to be charged with the whole power of making and administering laws. Its jurisdiction is limited to certain enumerated objects, which concern all the members of the republic, but which are not to be attained by the separate provisions of any.” —James Madison, Federalist No. 14

Complacency Will Kill You

September 14th, 2015 . by Cary

Well, it will try, anyway. I’ve been riding a motorcycle for my commute since June. In the early morning hours, here in Phoenix, it is usually hot and dry. Hot enough to make you not wear a jacket while riding a bike. Or gloves. And really, who wants to wear heavy boots all day in an office? Sneakers it is …

It rained last night, a long, soaking rain that we have needed for some time. This morning was warm, but not hot; but very humid. The breeze as I was riding was very enjoyable.

My commute takes me east on Bethany Home Road, and I turn southeast onto Grand Ave. The light was red at Grand, so the turn lane started out from a dead stop. The three vehicles ahead of me made the turn – and stopped. I was into the turn when there was nowhere to go. The pavement, it turns out, was a little damp right there. I have good brakes.

I also now have a scratched up engine guard, some scratches on my helmet, minor scrapes on my right knee and right elbow, and a twisted right ankle. The bike landed on my right foot, the saddlebag kept it at an odd angle. I used my left foot to push the bike up enough to free my right ankle. A guy appeared, asking if I was OK – turns out he was the reason everyone stopped; he was crossing Grand in the crosswalk with the light. He picked up my bike, and pushed it over to the side while I attempted to stand up. My ankle doesn’t seem to be able to take full weight right now; but it’s not broken. I’ll see what a little ice will do for it.

I will also be wearing my riding gear from now on, regardless of weather. Lesson re-learned. (I had gone down a long time ago, low side, and didn’t come out of that one nearly as well off as I did this time.)

Tomorrow morning’s commute will feature yours truly wearing his ballistic jacket, road gloves, and boots. The sneakers will be in the side bag, for use in the office. If I had full leathers, I would wear that, and change once I got to the office.

All The Gear, All The Time.

Tuesday Bluesday

September 1st, 2015 . by Cary

Well, I can’t blame Obama(THHO) for this, so I won’t. Last night a big storm blew through Central Phoenix and it happened to knock out the power for the block where the plant I work at is located. SO, day off, most likely. If the power is restored, I may go in later. Otherwise I am taking a vacation day. I have a few things to catch up around here.

Went to the VA audiology yesterday after work, got a hearing test done (surprise! I’m hard of hearing) and the VA is issuing a set of hearing aids for me. They will be ready on or about the 21st.

I could not locate my six-disc Bluray set of the Star Wars movies. We had cleaned out all the hiding spots for movies (we thought) and we were stumped. A similar issue had arisen a few years ago, with a bunch of movies starring one actor, and we never did find those. I happened to be cleaning out a cabinet this morning, and found the Star Wars discs. Of course, I have Episode 1 playing as I type.

My Kindle is dying. It constantly needs to be reset, and it takes a while to reload all of the books I have collected. I will be contacting Amazon later today.

The genealogy portion of this web site has been dormant for a while. I will be updating what I can.

The GOP is sure fired up about some non-traditional candidates, are they not? I haven’t seen vitriol and attacks like this from the GOP since … well, since Reagan ran for President …

I Want It Both Ways

August 13th, 2015 . by Cary

I know, it’s been a while. So sue me.

Wait, I was just kidding.

Let’s look at today’s serving of “It’s The Law Except When It’s Not”, shall we? First, take a read over at Chicks On The Right.

The weepy left wants the laws to be not applied when someone is complying with said law. Michigan’s laws are such that a person who is licensed to carry concealed is allowed to carry a weapon on school campuses, even if the campus is posted as “Gun Free”. The dad successfully got the court to rule that he didn’t have to carry concealed, just as long as he is licensed to do so. The left doesn’t like this, and wants to send the school into a paroxysm of fear and lock down anytime a weapon is sighted. The left doesn’t want to follow the judge’s decision.

Unless, of course, it benefits them. Then you have to follow the judge’s decision.

Second entry today comes from the Washington Post.

Here we have a County Clerk in Kentucky who, instead of being forced to issue same-sex marriage licenses, stopped issuing licenses completely, straight or gay. A gay couple, instead of getting a state license from a different county, insists (read: made their feet go stompy and held their breath) they should be able to get a license form the county where they reside. The judge who heard the case decided that, indeed, you have to do what judges say, no matter what you personally feel. This is in violation of the Clerk’s First Amendment right.

To recap: You MUST do what judges rule to be correct, regardless of your personal feelings, unless the judge ruled against a closely held belief of the Left.
