Well, better late than never.
So – the retail season of Holiday Sales has kicked in. Hanukkah falls within a week of Christmas this year. Sales have been … solid … at the store, and the twin juggernauts of Hanukkah and Christmas have barely started to roll. I may not get many chances to sit down and put pen to paper until after both holy days have passed.
Obama(THHO) has managed to get the media to twist the unemployment numbers to a favorable-for-him statistic (Mark Twain once said there were “Lies, damned lies, and statistics.”) while ignoring the inconvenient truth that the rate dropped because so many people are no longer eligible for unemployment compensation and they have quit looking for work. 8.6% is a very pretty number that will sway some very gullible and less-than-intelligently-informed people to vote for the country and business hating socialist again. We can’t afford another four years of this; it will break this nation’s economic back.
(confirmation of OBL’s death was received when he turned up on the Cook County, IL rolls as a registered voter)
Dallas handed the Cardinals a win at home. That explains the cold weather around here lately.
In case I don’t get back on here between now and then, ya’ll have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. And in case I don’t wake up for a while afterwards, Happy New Year, also!
In between I will be celebrating my 50th birthday.
Chat ya later…

I hurt something in my knee last night. Put weight on it while on the floor, heard something POP, and spent this morning at the urgent care. I now have an ace bandage wrapped around my knee, an ice pack sitting on it, and a shiny pair of crutches.
I’ve decided that sitting still and watching TV is going to be all the activity I do this afternoon.

My last post is NOT all I’m going to say today.
However, my lie pales in comparison to this picture:
Ol’ Broad has the full story. Short and sweet: the letter tells the family posing in the remains of their home that there is insufficient damage to their property to warrant any aid from FEMA.
And the Government thinks they can better judge what health care we need and when?
Pfft.

As my regular readers know, I’ve been trying to keep the Road Rhino (1998 Infiniti QX4, 170k miles) in a somewhat reasonably reliable running mode. As I type this, the smell of cleaner and soap is still on my hands after replacing the starter. This is another reason I wish to kill some automotive engineers. Or at least make them work on their own creations.
I have replaced the starter on this vehicle many times. I think, but I’m not sure, that this is number four. You would think that after the first three times I would remember that the bolts holding the starter to the tranny case are 14 mm and the electrical connection is a 13 mm, but you would be wrong. You would think that I would remember how to worm the starter out from next to the lower control arm on the passenger side without jamming my fingers or slamming the starter against the palm of my hand and then wedging said hand against the still warm exhaust pipe, but again, you would be wrong.
One thing I have noticed, though – I have to raise the passenger side of the vehicle higher every time I change the starter. I think the suspension is slowly going bad, and that side of the SUV is sitting lower to the ground.
(not mine, but almost identical – same color, mine doesn’t have the rear wind deflector. oh, and my paint has all kinds of aftermarket scratches … )
A big thank you to Harry, for helping procure a new starter at less than I was able to find one.
