So – barring any unforeseen disasters – like, say, a power outage the size of San Diego for crying out loud – we (TMBWitW, MEG, MEG’s sister-cousin, and I) are headed for Legoland. I will be off the information superhighway interweb thingy for a couple days – ya’ll behave.

I don’t want to come back and find out that Obama(THHO) has declared that an unforeseen power emergency has created or saved several hundred thousand jobs …

First September Friday

Got a busy day planned (as I write this the evening before, and plan to have it published at 0601 Friday morning) starting with Cinnamon going to the vet – one of the fosters (who are both leaving this weekend) bit her ear. Dang it. Poor Cinnamon – she was the one that got attacked by Princess, another foster, several years ago – and she is so gentle and loving that she doesn’t fight back.

This early morning appointment (0845) necessitates moving the chiropractor to a little later in the day – but not much later, because I have a dentist appointment (teeth cleaning time! with a full upper plate, it takes half the time of everyone else!) at 1130 followed by Cinnamon’s diabetes checkup visit at 1445. Due to the timing of her insulin shot, the visits can’t be combined. Because their was blood involved, it can’t wait much later in the day to be taken care of.

Whew! And I’m just getting warmed up!

Then I need to finalize the trimming of the doors and one shelf, along with finding a set of hinges for a corner cabinet, for the Scottsdale RR Club cabinets. I was going to end up skinning them with laminate, but I really don’t have the tools needed to skin existing cabinets. I can build laminate cabinets from the git go, but skinning them after they are hanging on the walls is another matter entirely, and one I do not wish to undertake this late in my wood career.

With the Toy Store Manager career coming right along, I think it’s time to hang up the wood tools. I’ll hang on to a few items that I need for work around the house, but things like the industrial strength/sized table saw is going to find a new home. If you are interested, please call BR-549.

New (and probably overdue) addition to the blog roll (I really should rename that “Daily” part …) – a12IggyMom needs your attention. She’s conservative, and kinda direct most of the time (snicker – duck). Give her a look see.

I sure hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day Weekend. Don’t get too rowdy, stay safe, stay sane. I’ll see about getting back in touch on Tuesday or thereabouts.

Arm Yourselves Red Friday

I have declared myself to be a Mexican Drug Cartel. I figure I’ll be getting my first load of guns and ammo any day now …

Keeping myself busy until they show up – wearing red, getting a haircut, going up to An Affair With Trains to check out the new location of the layout, hanging with my daughter all day (the best part, right there!) and generally enjoying a day off.

If I don’t see you before next week, have a good weekend. Enjoy fellowship with like-minded individuals. Practice a few rights as enumerated in the Constitution, especially the first two.

Last July Red Friday

Well, I’ve got my red on – I’m actually going to enjoy doing NOTHING today (with the exception of taking Cinnamon to Acoma for her diabetes check-up) and nothing will stop me.

Yes, I realize I have many projects in a holding pattern, but right now, today, I am going to take the day and enjoy it with my daughter. We aren’t going to do anything we don’t have to. In fact, she’s still slepping and probably will be for another hour or so. She is still recovering from a summer cold and the results of a misdiagnosis involving ear drops that provided another clue in the list of allergens (sulfates – just like her mommy!) that she needs to avoid.

Sadie had a growth removed from her front right paw; she is recovering nicely.

Out of the corner of your eye, Samantha really looks a lot like Sara did.

One Week Ago

So – Friday morning dawned overcast in Anaheim. With it came the buzzing of my phone – TMBWitW is messaging me that she is on the way – 0630 and on the road. I message back, asking her to drive safely, and roll over for a short nap. I woke up about 0700, rollout, shower, get dressed, and decide that a long walk to get away from hotel conference food is in the cards. My walking takes me north on Harbor Boulevard towards the Mouse Eared Main Gate and a certain high-volume arched restaurant right across the street. I order and eat, taking my time, and people watching as the crowd surges in and out on it’s way to the park. I start walking back to the hotel and just enjoy the weather – about 72, slightly overcast from the marine layer, with the sun starting to burn off the haze.

Back in the room, I settled in for a marathon of American Chopper. Knowing that my wife will never set any land speed records (especially with her right arm in the shape it’s in) I even nap once in a while. I’ve got the sliding door open, and I’m enjoying the fresh air and cool weather. She calls around 1000, letting me know she’s napping in Indio. An hour later, she’s back on the road. I talk her in by phone once she is close, and my family joins me around 1330. TMBWitW promptly lays down for a nap (sore and tired – bad combination!) and I take another Deacon’s nephew to meet him at the Park.

When I get back to the room, TMBWitW is on the verge of a power nap – so I take MEG and head for Redondo Beach. We spend a few hours building a sand castle and chasing the waves, splashing, and having a good time. Sorry, no pictures – I was concentrating on keeping an eye on my fearless daughter, and didn’t want to run the risk of dropping a camera in the ocean.

The next morning, I pack the car, we check out, and we hit the Santa Ana Zoo. There is an adoption event going on – mostly German Shepherds. We get in, wander the zoo, ride the “canimal” and even the train. On the way out, we pass a kennel with a sweet little black lab puppy – he looks about nine months old – and it’s everything I can do to keep moving toward the car without adopting him on the spot. We hit the road, and head back for Phoenix. First stop: Mighty Mikes for dinner, then home and my own bed. Whew!
