Not A Regular Thursday

April 30th, 2009 . by Cary

I was going to do a round up today – and got sidetracked by a job opening in my e-mail. The application process (online – whatever happened to “come on down, fill out an application, and we’ll talk!”?) consisted of several questions of the usual sort (what’s your name? do you have any aliases? where do you live? how long have you lived there? where have you worked before? do you do drugs? can we test you for them?) and then a timed questionnaire involving a set of questions, asked differently, 224 times.

Seriously!

Yes, I know that they are trying to get an idea of who you are by asking these questions, trying to “trip you up” perhaps, but do they really think people are going to answer truthfully if they are desperate for a job? While I am not desperate, I would never answer untruthfully. It’s not in my nature.

So – what are the questions, you wonder?

Questions like “Do you have family living in the area?” “Are you an honest person?” (snicker – ‘oh, yesss – very honest – just ask my parole officer!’) “Do you think safety is due to luck or diligence?” “Have you ever stolen anything?” (no, Diogenes – never in my life.) “Do you think everyone else is honest?”

They didn’t allow for essay answers. I don’t think they would have liked mine very much.

Well, do me a favor. Visit the fine folks over in the sidebar and tell them I said hello. I’ll be there too, but tell them I sent you anyway. Chances are, if you enjoy reading this stuff, you will really like the ones I’m linked to.

And one more thing – if you are so inclined – please pray for God to guide me in my career aspects. I appreciate it.

Chat ya later…
