The Silence of a Saturday
January 22nd, 2011 . by CaryThe household is still asleep, except for the cats (who seem to be awake when we are not, but that’s a story for another post) and I am standing on the driveway, holding the morning paper in my hand. I glance at the front lawn, decide that tomorrow is, indeed, the day that I need to rake up the detritus of winter, when I hear an insistent honking. I look up, for it is not a mechanical sound, but a natural one. As the lone goose nears and passes overhead, the pitch changes, dropping slightly as the Doppler effect is demonstrated, then the honking fades slower as he continues south.
Have a peaceful and productive Saturday, my friends.
Chat ya later…
