First – and most important – tomorrow, March 30, is Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Find one. Welcome him or her home. Mean it. In 1973, on this date, was the official withdrawal of all troops from Vietnam. The welcome they got then was tainted by the very vocal protesters who jeered, booed, spat upon and denigrated these heroes. These men and women placed their lives on the line, and that was the welcome they got. (i had a cousin who, until the day he died, stayed holed up in his room because of the ‘welcome’ he got.) Tomorrow, by and Act of Congress, it is officially Wlecome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.

Find one. Or two. Thank them.

Profusely.

And mean it. They deserve that much.

Second – from the mailbag, put as much thought into this as you wish. It was attributed anonymously to an anonymous source in the Czech Republic.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

In this case, I think that we have gotten the government we deserve. Let’s raise our standards a bit next time around, shall we?
