He was born in Utica, Mich., and as a young man went with his father to Arizona in 1867.
Studied law in his father's law office and joined his father in practice of law in Prescott, Ariz. after being admitted to the bar in 1872.
He became a deputy sheriff and operated a beef ranch.
They adopted several children.
Home was at his ranch in Yeager Canyon, outside Prescott.
They are buried in Pioneer Cemetery in Prescott.
