Born in Westfield - moved to Lowville - married and with wife and three boys moved to Rochesterville, N. Y. in 1814, was carpenter and millwright by trade - There were only 14 buildings in Rochester when he arrived there.
He built many of the early buildings.
Died at age 52.
It is the descendants of this family whose story is told in the first part of this book (The Wisconsin Cartters).
Descendants of this David all used the two "Ts" in their name.
